During the recent wild-card playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers, one Eagles fan went too far. In a viral video, this male Eagles fan was seen calling a female Green Bay fan a vulgar name and cursing at her. The female fan told local media that this man became increasingly confrontational during the second half of the game. He insulted her appearance and called her names. She believed he felt comfortable insulting a woman because he did not feel threatened by her. The woman’s fiancé recorded the incident and asked the internet for help to locate the man for “unprovoked” and “uncalled” for behavior.
BCT Partners recognized the man as its employee. While it did not name the individual, the company said it had “decided to part company” with the employee after internally investigating his actions. In its public statement, BCT said, “This individual’s conduct and language were vile, disgusting, unacceptable[,] and horrific and have no place in our workplace and society.” The company is self-described as “minority-owned” and “DEI Champions.” It apologized to the woman and asserted its commitment to gender equity.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Lincoln Financial Field (where the team plays) have banned this fan from their stadium for life. The team plans to send the woman some Packers gear to apologize for what happened. The Eagles fan has since publicly apologized to the woman and her fiancé, admitting that he said unacceptable things in the heat of the moment. He also said the video “does not reflect the full context of what happened.”
